OSHA electronic injury reporting rule incoming
Construction Dive has an interesting article up this morning regarding the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s new rule regarding the electronic transmission of injury and illness data for all construction industry employees with 20 employees or more. The rule goes into effect on August 10, 2016, and the data reported will be made available to the general public.
The article concludes that the rule lacks clarity in terms of identifying those injuries and illnesses that must be reported. As a result, some contractors may report more than what is necessary under the rule, creating the appearance that those contractors’ job site are less safe than others.
The full text of the rule was published earlier today in the Federal Register, and can be found in its entirety here.
