Carolinas construction employment continues to rise

According to data released earlier this month from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and published today by the Associated General Contractors of America, South and North Carolina have enjoyed increases in overall construction employment over the last twelve months. Although April’s data shows a slight 1% decline from the previous month, South Carolina’s overall employment growth of 6.5% over the last 12 months ranks 16th best in the nation. North Carolina’s overall 12-month growth of 5.4% ranks 21st.
Construction sector growth in employment is shared by the vast majority of the eastern U.S., with Kentucky, Mississippi, and West Virginia being the exceptions.
